词汇辨析：beach, coast, shore

beach 与 shore 均可表示“海滨”（shore 还可指“湖边”）。

• beach 侧重指地势平缓、覆盖沙砾或碎石的区域，适合开展游泳、日光浴等活动，也可停靠小型船只。

• shore 是更宽泛的概念，既包含沙滩这类平缓区域，也涵盖岩石嶙峋或陡峭的岸边。

例句参考：
I like lying on the beach watching the girls around.
我喜欢躺在沙滩上，看着周围的姑娘们。
After the storm, plenty of driftwood was washed up on the shore.
暴风雨过后，大量浮木被冲到了岸边。
coast 指从远处眺望时，海洋与陆地的分界线，或是将这条线视作一个整体的地理概念。它不用于描述人可以停留的具体海滨区域，因此不能说 I saw him sitting on the coast。

例句参考：
Looking down from the plane, we caught sight of the Dutch coast.
从飞机上俯瞰，我们看到了荷兰的海岸线。
I live ten miles away from the coast.
我住的地方距离海岸有十英里。
补充说明：使用这三个词时，不妨这样理解——coast 偏向陆地一侧的地理边界，而 shore 更贴近水域边缘。
